In a heartfelt show of appreciation, the legal team representing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has commended the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, for his fearless and principled representation in the House of Representatives.

Speaking, the lawyers praised Hon. Aguocha for being a “consistent, courageous, and authentic Igbo voice” in the National Assembly. They described him as one of the few who have refused to remain silent in the face of injustice, noting that his recent interventions concerning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s deteriorating health and prolonged detention demonstrated true leadership and empathy.

Hon. Obi Aguocha has proven beyond doubt that he is a true son of Ala Igbo, one who understands the pain and aspirations of his people,” they stated. “His boldness in speaking truth to power, even in the most intimidating chambers, has inspired confidence across the Igbo nation. We are proud of him and stand in solidarity with his call for justice, equity, and the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”

The legal team further noted that Aguocha’s voice represents the conscience of the South East in the National Assembly, lamenting that many others from the region have chosen political correctness over moral conviction. They hailed his recent clash with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary as a “moment of truth that reflected the deep frustration of millions of Igbos yearning for justice.

While others have kept silent for fear of political repercussions, Hon. Aguocha has stood unshaken in defense of his people’s rights. His interventions have reawakened the hope that not all representatives have forgotten the cause of justice,” the legal luminaries added.

In response, Hon. Obi Aguocha reiterated his unwavering commitment to equity, national healing, and justice. He maintained that his advocacy for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release was rooted in the pursuit of peace and reconciliation in Nigeria.

“I am simply doing what is right,” Aguocha said. “My duty as a representative is to speak the truth, defend my people, and promote unity built on fairness. I will continue to advocate for lawful, peaceful solutions that ensure justice for all Nigerians, including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The lawyers concluded by calling on other Igbo political leaders to emulate Hon. Aguocha’s courage, insisting that “only through collective, principled leadership can the South East regain its voice and rightful place in the Nigerian federation.”
