The United Youth Forum (UYF), Abia North Chapter, has publicly commended Hon. Akym Onyekwere Uche for what it described as a “remarkable and consistent legacy of youth empowerment and development in Abia.
In a statement issued to newsmen over the weekend, the group praised Akym for his unwavering commitment to uplifting young people through practical programs and policies, saying his track record stands as a shining example of people-centered public service.
“Akym Onyekwere has not only invested in projects but in people,” the UYF Coordinator, Comrade Kelechi Nwosu, stated.
“His approach to leadership is inclusive, development-driven, and intentional. He continues to give young people a platform to thrive, and that’s something we cannot take for granted.”
The youth group highlighted several initiatives linked to Akym Onyekwere, including community-based educational scholarships, skill-building programs, mentorship for young professionals and startup support schemes.
According to UYF, these efforts have made a tangible impact on lives across communities in Bende, Ohafia, Arochukwu, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi.
“Our generation is not looking for handouts; we want opportunities to thrive,” UYF spokesperson, Miss Amarachi Ude said. “Hon. Akym understands this. His vision for youth empowerment aligns with our aspirations as young people who want to build, lead, and contribute meaningfully to society.”
The group also commended Akym’s open-door policy, noting that his frequent engagements with youth leaders, community influencers, and grassroots organizations have fostered a stronger sense of inclusion and accountability in governance.
“He listens. He engages. He acts,” Comrade Nwosu added. “This is what true leadership looks like. We call on other leaders across Abia North to emulate this model of service and development.”
UYF also pointed out that beyond youth empowerment, Hon. Akym’s inclusive service extends to women, artisans, and rural communities that are often neglected in policy discourse.
“He sees the whole community, not just the politically active,” Miss Ude noted. “And that’s what gives his legacy strength. He is building systems that benefit all, not just a few.”
The youth group expressed hope that Hon. Akym’s brand of leadership would gain wider traction within and beyond Abia North.
“Whatever the future holds, we know that leaders like Hon. Akym Onyekwere will continue to stand as a symbol of what is possible when service is rooted in sincerity and purpose,” the statement concluded.
The United Youth Forum, pledged to continue partnering with development-minded individuals and institutions to ensure that the voices of young people remain central to the region’s growth and governance agenda
