Prayer for Justice and Freedom: A Message from Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha

Date: Sunday, 13th July 2025

Today, I lifted my voice in prayer for my brother and constituent, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. I also encouraged many others to join in, and I’ve been deeply moved by the overwhelming response: heartfelt prayers, comments, and goodwill messages have poured in from around the world.

I am truly encouraged by the collective sacrifice, the willingness of so many to give 20 minutes of their time today to intercede. It speaks volumes about our unity, our faith, and our hope.

As we look ahead to Friday, the 18th of July, we believe firmly in both divine and judicial intervention. The prosecution has concluded its case. The defense has indicated it will make a no-case submission, grounded on the lack of compelling evidence. But we do not place our hope solely in legal arguments.

We place our hope in God.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, arrested nearly a decade ago in the prime of his life at 45–46, is now 55–56 years old. He is one of the longest-detained individuals in modern Nigerian history, still awaiting justice. We acknowledge the efforts toward an accelerated trial, but above all, we trust that God’s infinite mercy will prevail. I also prayed for the noble Lordship - that the good Lord will grant him the wisdom and courage to do the right thing and to uphold justice.

Today, I prayed with Scriptures in hand:

Psalm 121: “I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord…”

Psalm 127: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”

The Lord is with us. He will not allow injustice to triumph. We shall see Mazi Nnamdi Kanu walk free. And with him, the great Igbo nation shall rise stronger and more united than ever before.

Trust me when I say this: we shall overcome.

My name is Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, proud representative of the great people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, the home constituency of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Where others remain silent, I will speak. I will rise courageously on his behalf.

Thank you for dedicating even a few minutes today to prayer and supplication. May God hear our cries and grant our petitions. The desires of our hearts shall be fulfilled, and soon. God is God!

God bless each and every one of you.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
