Residents laud Soludo’s fare reduction efforts

Residents of Nkpor, Umuoji, Uke, and Nnobi communities in Idemili North and South Local Government Areas of Anambra State have commended the State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for granting approval to Uzoegwu United Brothers to take over the management of Nkpor parks and transportation activities in the area.

They described the move as a long-awaited solution to their transportation woes, adding that the governor’s decision is aimed at easing the daily struggles of commuters in the area and open up underdeveloped parts of the communities.

Speaking in separate interviews on Monday, some residents of the communities, including Messrs John Okoye, Uzochukwu Obi, Onyebuchi Igwuilo, and Anthony Okeke praised the “Solution Governor” for listening to the cries of the people.

They described the development as a “bold and people-oriented move” aimed at addressing both economic and mobility challenges in the area.

According to them, the approval given to Uzoegwu United Brothers to manage transportation in the axis is a significant step towards infrastructure growth and improved revenue generation.

They expressed confidence that the initiative would bring lasting relief to thousands of commuters who ply the Nkpor–Onitsha routes daily. 

The residents also used the opportunity to endorse the governor for a second term in office, urging fellow Anambrarians to rally behind him for continuity of his impactful governance.

“With this move, the governor has eased the daily transport struggles of commuters. It has also opened up commercial and economic activities, especially for the underdeveloped parts of the communities.

“The governor has shown leadership and compassion. He listens to the people and acts in their interest. He deserves a second term. We are confident that the initiative would bring lasting relief to thousands of commuters who ply the Nkpor–Onitsha routes daily,” the residents said.

Correspondent gathered that commuters traveling to major markets such as Main Market, Ochanja, and Bridgehead in Onitsha echoed similar sentiments, as they showered encomiums on the governor and prayed for the realisation of his transformational agenda for the state.

Meanwhile, commercial motorists in the area, also lauded the efforts of the State Chairman of the Internally Generated Revenue Service, Chief Greg Ezeilo, for his role in restructuring transportation management in Nkpor, describing his intervention as timely and critical to the success of the reforms.

The transport overhaul in Nkpor is seen by many as a model of grassroots development that reflects Soludo’s broader vision for a modern, functional Anambra.
