The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has assured residents and commuters that the New Heaven to Isi Court Road in Umuahia would soon receive the attention it deserves from government.

During an on-the-spot assessment visit to the road, Aguocha described it as one of the most strategic routes in the Umuahia urban metropolis, connecting several communities, business areas, and institutions.
He noted that its current state has posed challenges for motorists, traders, and residents alike.

Speaking to journalists during the inspection, Hon. Aguocha emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing critical infrastructure in Abia’s capital city.

The New Heaven to Isi Court Road is not just another street, it is a vital artery for movement, commerce, and social life within Umuahia,” he said. “We cannot afford to ignore the suffering of our people who use this route daily. I am assuring our constituents that this road has been marked for rebuilding.”

He further stated that efforts are already underway to ensure the road is captured in the next fiscal plan.

By the grace of God, and in line with our consultations with the relevant agencies, the rehabilitation of this road will be included in the upcoming 2026 appropriation budget. This is a promise I am determined to see fulfilled,” Aguocha declared.

The federal lawmaker explained that his intervention goes beyond advocacy. According to him,
Infrastructure development is not achieved by mere wishful thinking. It requires coordination, planning, and political will. I am working closely with government at different levels to see that projects like this receive timely funding and execution,” he noted.

Residents and business owners in the area expressed optimism at Aguocha’s assurance, describing the move as a welcome relief. Many highlighted that the road has been in disrepair for years, with potholes, flooding, and erosion hampering movement and economic activities.

Hon. Aguocha concluded by reiterating his commitment to people-oriented representation.

My duty is to serve and to be the voice of my people. Roads like this define the daily experiences of my constituents, and I will not rest until we see the transformation that is long overdue. Umuahia deserves roads that reflect its status as a capital city,” he said.
