As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary, the Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Tommy Obioma, has penned a heartfelt message to Nigerians, urging them to remain hopeful, united, and committed to the ideals of nation-building.
In his goodwill message, Hon. Obioma saluted the resilience of Nigerians who, despite daunting challenges, have continued to keep faith in the unity and survival of the nation.
He emphasized that Independence Day should be more than just a celebration but a sober reflection on the nation’s journey so far and the need for collective responsibility in shaping a better future.
“Today, as we celebrate 65 years of our independence, I salute the courage, strength, and resilience of Nigerians who have remained steadfast in the face of difficulties,” Obioma said.
“Though our nation has passed through seasons of trials, I believe there is still hope for change. Nigeria has all it takes to rise above its present challenges if we unite as one people and remain committed to patriotism.”
The lawmaker underscored the importance of unity and patriotism, stressing that no nation can thrive without the collective will of its citizens. He noted that despite ethnic, religious, and political differences, Nigerians must embrace love and togetherness to move the country forward.
“We must not lose hope,” he added. “This Independence anniversary is a call to renew our faith in Nigeria. Our diversity should be our greatest strength, not a source of division. If we remain united, patriotic, and focused on the values of honesty, justice, and equity, our country will surely attain greatness.”
Obioma further encouraged leaders at all levels to demonstrate integrity and selfless service, noting that Nigerians deserve good governance that addresses their yearnings and aspirations.
He pledged his commitment, as a representative of the people, to continue working for the progress and development of his constituency and the state at large.
“As leaders, we must not fail our people,” Obioma stated. “We must rise above personal interest and serve with sincerity and accountability. Our founding fathers dreamt of a great Nigeria, and it is our responsibility to make that dream a reality.”
Concluding his message, the Abia Assembly Chief Whip expressed optimism that Nigeria’s future remains bright and called on citizens to remain steadfast in prayer, unity, and hard work.
“I urge every Nigerian not to give up. Let us continue to hope, to work, and to believe that this country can be better. Our tomorrow is greater than today if we do the right things together,” he said.
