The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has urged African leaders to embrace responsibility and prioritise people-centred governance.

Enenche made the call on Wednesday while delivering a keynote address at the Uganda Leadership and Economic Summit in Kampala.

According to a statement he personally signed on Thursday and made available to journalists, the cleric stressed that true leadership goes beyond titles and positions.

Speaking on the theme “The Act of Leadership”, Enenche said leadership should be measured not by the offices leaders occupy but by the quality of lives they impact.

“True leadership is measured not only by titles held but by exemplary lives lived, lives that inspire, influence, and drive change across generations,” he said.

He listed the attributes of responsible leadership to include identifying with the people, accepting responsibility for their challenges, mobilising resources for their welfare, building systems and structures, and fostering human development.

In her remarks, Kabanda thanked Enenche for his message, noting its relevance to Uganda’s leadership context.

“I have enjoyed the teaching from Pastor Paul. It was part of us. The summary was about acceptance of responsibility. Being a minister is not a simple issue; you meet different people of faith and tribe. We need your prayers,” she said.

The event, which coincided with his ongoing Healing and Deliverance Crusade in the country, brought together top political, diplomatic and religious figures.

Among those in attendance were the Minister of Kampala, Minsa Kabanda; Pastor Robert Kayanja and his wife, Jessica Kayanja; Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Uganda, Etsegenet Bezabih Yimenu; and Uganda’s Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Esther Davinia Anyakun.

The Uganda Leadership and Economic Summit is an annual platform for leaders across sectors to exchange ideas on governance, social development and economic transformation.
