HON. OBI AGUOCHA MOURNS REV. DR. UMA UKPAI, DESCRIBES HIM AS A GENERAL OF FAITH AND FAMILY FRIEND

The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, describing him as “a true general of faith, a father in the Lord, and a cherished family friend”.
 
In a heartfelt condolence message issued on Monday, Hon. Aguocha paid glowing tribute to the late cleric, who passed on to glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. 
He noted that Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai’s life was one of unwavering devotion to God and humanity, leaving behind a legacy that transcends generations. 
 
With a heart deeply touched yet full of gratitude to God for a life well lived, I join millions of believers around the world to mourn the passing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai,” Aguocha stated. “He was a true general of the faith, a father in the Lord, and a cherished family friend.”
 
The lawmaker said the news of the cleric’s transition came with both a sense of loss and thanksgiving, loss because his prophetic voice and fatherly guidance will be greatly missed, and thanksgiving because his impactful life exemplified selfless service and divine purpose. 
 
Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was not only a national treasure but also a personal inspiration to me and my family,” Aguocha continued. “He shared a long-standing friendship and bond with my late father, Dr. O. B. Aguocha, built on faith, respect, and mutual love for humanity and the gospel.”
 
Aguocha recalled the warm relationship between both families, noting that the friendship between his late father and Rev. Ukpai was founded on shared values of faith, integrity, and service to God and community.
 
Our families have been connected through the years by those same values of faith, integrity, and service to God and community,” he said. 
Rev. Ukpai’s exemplary leadership and deep spirituality continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.” 
 
He further prayed for God’s comfort upon the bereaved family, urging them to take solace in the fact that the late evangelist lived a fulfilled life and left behind indelible footprints of faith.
 
As we celebrate his triumphant homegoing, I pray that the Lord will comfort his beloved wife, children, the entire Ukpai family, and the body of Christ he so faithfully served”.
