Abia 2027: Mascot Uzor-Kalu Vows to Uphold People-Oriented Governance

Umuahia, Abia State |December 16, 2025 —

Abia 2027 governorship aspirant, Chief Mascot Uzor-Kalu (MUK), has reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented governance, declaring that leadership must be firmly rooted in the needs, welfare, and aspirations of the people.

Speaking to Newsmen in Umuahia on Monday, Chief Mascot Uzor-Kalu stated that Abia’s future depends on a governance approach that listens to the people and delivers practical solutions to everyday challenges. He noted that development can only be sustained when policies are shaped by the realities on ground and not by political convenience.

According to him, government must return to its primary responsibility of serving the people with sincerity and accountability.

Governance must be about the people,” Mascot said. “If leadership does not translate into better living conditions, improved infrastructure, and opportunities for our youths, then it has missed its purpose. My vision for Abia is simple and clear. It is about putting the people first in everything we do.”

The APC governorship aspirant emphasized that people-oriented governance requires transparency and strong institutions.

He explained that when public resources are properly managed and institutions are allowed to function independently, trust between government and citizens is strengthened.

Abians deserve a government they can trust,” he said. “Transparency, accountability, and fairness must be the foundation of leadership if we are serious about progress.”

MUK also highlighted the importance of economic empowerment as a central pillar of his vision. He stressed that job creation, support for small businesses, and investment in skills development are critical to reducing poverty and stimulating growth across the state.

We cannot talk about development without addressing unemployment,” he noted. “Our young people are creative and hardworking. With the right policies and support, Abia can become a hub of productivity and innovation.”

He further called for inclusive governance that carries along all segments of society, including women, youths, and rural communities. According to him, development must not be concentrated in a few areas but spread across all parts of the state.

Every community matters,” Mascot said. “From Aba to the most remote villages, governance must be felt and experienced by the people.”

Chief Mascot Uzor-Kalu reiterated that his political ambition is driven by service rather than personal interest. He maintained that leadership should be approached with humility and a deep sense of responsibility.

Public office is a privilege,” he stated. “It demands sacrifice, integrity, and a genuine desire to improve lives. That is the kind of leadership I stand for.
