Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, has put smiles on the faces of thousands of his constituents with the distribution of bags of rice as part of his Christmas outreach, reaffirming his commitment to people-centred representation and compassionate leadership.
The large-scale distribution, which cut across communities within the federal constituency, saw thousands of households benefit from the gesture, aimed at easing the economic burden on families during the festive season.
Constituents described the intervention as timely, impactful, and reflective of Aguocha’s consistent connection with the grassroots.
Addressing beneficiaries during the event, Aguocha said the initiative was driven by his belief that leadership must translate into tangible support for the people, especially during challenging times.
“Christmas is a season of love, sacrifice, and sharing,” Aguocha said. “At a time when many families are struggling, it is important that we stand with our people in practical ways. This distribution of bags of rice is to ensure that no household is left out of the joy of the season.”
He explained that the outreach was not a one-off gesture but part of his broader commitment to social support and responsive representation, stressing that the welfare of his constituents remains a top priority.
“Representation is not just about making speeches; it is about touching lives,” he stated. “As long as I have the opportunity to serve, I will continue to support my constituents and respond to their needs.”
While the Christmas outreach remained the central focus of the event, Aguocha also used the occasion to reflect on issues of justice and sacrifice, calling on constituents to remember Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his family in prayers during the festive period. He described Kanu as someone making enormous sacrifices and assured that he would not relent in his advocacy.
“As we celebrate, I urge you to keep Nnamdi Kanu and his family in your thoughts and prayers,” Aguocha said. “Justice will be served, and I will continue to stand and speak for my brother despite all odds.”
He further reassured constituents that fear would not deter him from pursuing justice through lawful and institutional means.
“Do not be afraid,” he added.
“I will not relent in the pursuit of justice and fairness. I have spoken and will continue to speak wherever it is necessary.”
Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the outreach, noting that the distribution of the bags of rice would significantly ease the cost of celebrating Christmas for families across the constituency.
In his closing remarks, Aguocha reaffirmed that his style of leadership would remain anchored on compassion, service, and courage.
“I will continue to celebrate with you, stand with you, and support you,” he said. “This is the essence of the mandate you gave me, and I will not betray that trust.”
