Umuahia, Abia State |December 18, 2025 —
The Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to people-centred leadership, describing responsive governance and constant engagement with constituents as the cornerstone of effective representation.
Akaliro made this assertion while interacting with constituents across communities in Umuahia North, where he expressed deep appreciation for the sustained support, trust, and cooperation he has received since assuming office. He noted that the encouragement from the people has continued to strengthen his resolve to serve diligently and uphold the mandate freely given to him.
According to the lawmaker, leadership must be driven by the needs and aspirations of the people rather than personal ambition. He emphasized that policies, motions, and legislative interventions under his watch are deliberately shaped to reflect the realities of ordinary citizens, especially the most vulnerable.
“My approach to leadership has always been about the people. Governance only has meaning when it positively impacts lives. I am grateful to my constituents for standing with me and for believing in our shared vision of progress and inclusive development,” Akaliro stated.
The Umuahia North legislator stressed that his engagement with constituents goes beyond election periods, adding that continuous consultation remains critical to delivering effective representation. He explained that feedback from town halls, community meetings, and stakeholder interactions informs his legislative priorities at the Abia State House of Assembly.
“I see myself first as a servant of the people. Every bill I support, every motion I raise, and every advocacy I undertake is guided by what the people have told me they need. Your voices shape my work in the Assembly,” he said.
Akaliro also acknowledged the patience and understanding of constituents in the face of economic and social challenges confronting the state and the nation. He assured them that he would continue to collaborate with relevant authorities to attract meaningful interventions and projects that will improve living standards in Umuahia North.
“These are challenging times, but I want our people to know that they are not alone. I remain committed to pursuing policies and partnerships that will bring sustainable development, empower our youths, and protect the welfare of women, children, and the elderly,” Akaliro added.
He further commended community leaders, youths, women groups, and party stakeholders for their unity and constructive engagement, describing them as critical partners in the pursuit of good governance. Akaliro urged residents to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and actively involved in democratic processes.
“The progress we seek is a collective effort. I thank our traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, and women for their support and counsel. Together, we will continue to build an Umuahia North that works for everyone,” he said.
The lawmaker concluded by renewing his pledge to uphold transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service, assuring constituents that their confidence in his leadership will continue to be justified through purposeful action and results-driven representation.
