Umuahia, Abia state |December 26, 2025 —
The Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Tommy Obioma, has called on his constituents to embrace the spirit of Boxing Day by uplifting one another through compassion, unity, and selfless service.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, Hon. Obioma described the occasion as a moment for deep reflection on shared humanity and communal responsibility, noting that the true meaning of the season is expressed through acts of kindness and support for the less privileged.
“Boxing Day reminds us that we are stronger together,” Obioma said.
“It is a day that challenges us to look out for one another, to lift those who are down, and to ensure that no one is left behind in our communities.”
He emphasized that uplifting one another goes beyond material assistance, explaining that encouragement, empathy, and solidarity play a vital role in fostering hope and resilience, especially in difficult times.
“Sometimes, what people need most is not money but reassurance and care,” he stated. “When we show concern and stand in solidarity with one another, we restore dignity and inspire confidence in a better tomorrow.”
Hon. Obioma urged families, community leaders, youth groups, and faith-based organisations to use the Boxing Day season to strengthen bonds and promote peaceful coexistence within Umuahia South and beyond.
“Our communities flourish when love and understanding guide our actions,” he added. “Unity and mutual respect are the foundations upon which sustainable development is built.”
Reaffirming his commitment to people-centered leadership, the lawmaker pledged to continue championing policies and initiatives that enhance social welfare, empower the youth, and protect the interests of the vulnerable.
“As your representative, I remain devoted to serving with compassion and integrity,” Obioma said. “Together, by uplifting one another, we can build a society that reflects our shared values and aspirations.”
He concluded by wishing his constituents a peaceful and joyful celebration, encouraging them to carry the spirit of kindness, unity, and service beyond the festive season and into everyday life.
