Hon. Emeka Obioma Receives Prestigious Ugwumba I Chieftaincy Title, Says Honour Reinforces His Commitment to Service

The Umuahia South Local Government Area Cultural Festival witnessed a historic moment as the revered Ndi Eze Umuahia South conferred the prestigious chieftaincy title of Ugwumba I of Umuahia South on the Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma. 
The colourful ceremony drew traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders, youth groups, and cultural troupes who gathered to celebrate tradition, leadership, and service.
The honour, bestowed by the Umuahia South Traditional Council, was in recognition of Hon. Obioma’s outstanding contributions to grassroots development, quality representation, and his consistent advocacy for the welfare of his constituents. The festival also showcased the rich cultural heritage of Umuahia South, reinforcing the community’s commitment to preserving its customs and values.
Speaking after the conferment, Hon. Obioma expressed deep gratitude to the traditional institution for the recognition, describing the title as a call to even greater responsibility. 

He said, “I am deeply humbled and profoundly grateful to Ndi Eze Umuahia South for finding me worthy of this highly esteemed title. This honour reinforces my commitment to service and strengthens my resolve to continue working with dedication, integrity, humility, and selfless commitment for our people.”
Hon. Obioma noted that the chieftaincy title was not a personal achievement but a collective honour shared with the people he represents. 

This honour is not mine alone. It belongs to every son and daughter of Umuahia South who have stood by me with their love, prayers, and unwavering support. I accept this title on behalf of our people, and I remain committed to serving them faithfully,” he stated.
The lawmaker also commended the Mayor of Umuahia South Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Chinedu Enwereuzo, for his leadership and for successfully hosting the cultural festival. According to him, the event underscored the importance of culture as a unifying force. 

“I sincerely appreciate the Mayor for his purposeful leadership and dedication to preserving and promoting our rich cultural heritage. This festival has shown that our culture remains a strong foundation for unity, peace, and progress,” Obioma said.

Reaffirming his legislative priorities, Hon. Obioma assured constituents of his continued focus on people-centred governance and sustainable development.

The event concluded with cultural displays, traditional rites, and goodwill messages from dignitaries, as community members hailed the conferment of the Ugwumba I title as a well-deserved recognition of service and leadership. 
Hon. Obioma, now Ugwumba I of Umuahia South, prayed for the continued growth of the community, saying, “May our cherished culture continue to thrive, and may Umuahia South continue to move forward in unity, peace, and progress.”
