Investing in Human Capital Equals Investing in Peace and Productivity — Mascot Uzor-Kalu

Abia State |December 29, 2025 —

Chief Mascot Uzor-Kalu, Abia 2027 governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emphasised the critical importance of investing in human capital as a strategic pathway to sustainable peace, economic productivity, and societal prosperity.

Speaking to reporters in Umuahia, Uzor-Kalu stressed that effective leadership must prioritise the empowerment of citizens as the foundation for lasting development.

Investing in human capital is the most strategic investment a society can make,” Mascot Uzor-Kalu stated. “When we equip our youth and women with the right skills, knowledge, and opportunities, we are not just building the workforce of tomorrow; we are building a society rooted in peace, productivity, and hope.”

He argued that Abia State, despite its abundant human and natural resources, faces persistent challenges such as unemployment, underemployment, and economic stagnation, which can be addressed through deliberate investments in education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship. According to him, failure to prioritise human capital often leads to social unrest, declining productivity, and erosion of public trust in governance.

The youth are the heartbeat of our state,” MUK said. “Any serious governance vision must put their energy, creativity, and aspirations at the centre of decision-making. Their potential is enormous, but it must be nurtured and guided through deliberate policies and programs.”

He further highlighted the importance of women’s inclusion in governance and economic initiatives, noting that empowering women amplifies societal development.

When women are given the tools to succeed, the ripple effects are felt across families, communities, and the broader economy,” he remarked. “Supporting women is not charity; it is a vital strategy for sustainable growth and stability.”

Mascot Uzor-Kalu also underlined the link between human capital development and security, stating that unemployed and disillusioned youths are more vulnerable to social vices and criminal activities.

Investing in skills, education, and productive opportunities is a direct investment in peace and social harmony,” he said.
“It strengthens our institutions, fosters civic responsibility, and reduces the pressure on public resources.”

Concluding his remarks, Chief Mascot Uzor-Kalu reiterated his commitment to championing policies and initiatives that enhance education, entrepreneurship, and professional development in Abia State. He assured residents that his vision for leadership is grounded in practical solutions that expand opportunities, promote equity, and ensure measurable impact.

True leadership is not measured by titles or rhetoric,” he said. “It is measured by the lives we touch, the opportunities we create, and the prosperity we leave behind for future generations.”
