IWU President Commends Gov Alex Otti For Promoting Peaceful Coexistence Between Farmers And Herders


The President-General of the Igbo World Union, His Imperial Majesty, Amb. Sir Mishak Nnanta, Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum has commended Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, for establishing a committee aimed at ensuring peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders in the state.

The committee, inaugurated by hi Excellency, Alex Otti, has been mandated to promote harmony, identify and address the root causes of conflicts, and develop strategies for conflict prevention, mediation, and resolution. 
This move has been hailed as a significant step towards fostering peace and stability in the region.

Sir Mishak Nnanta lauded Gov. Otti's initiative, stating that it demonstrates a deep understanding of the critical need for peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders. He also urged the committee members to work diligently to achieve their mandate, emphasizing the importance of their role in promoting peace and conflict resolution.

The IWU President stressed that the peaceful coexistence of farmers and herders is crucial for the region's economic development and food security. 
He noted that conflicts between the two groups have led to losses on both sides, and that finding a lasting solution is essential for the prosperity of the region.

By supporting this initiative, the Igbo World Union demonstrates its commitment to promoting peace, understanding, and harmony among all stakeholders in the Southeast region. 
Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum expressed optimism that the committee's efforts will yield positive results, leading to a more harmonious and prosperous Abia State.

The committee's terms of reference therefore include;
- Promoting peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders, 
- Identifying and addressing the root causes of conflicts, 
- Developing strategies for conflict prevention, mediation, and resolution, 
- Proffering recommendations to the Abia State government on policies promoting peace and conflict resolution among others.

The Igbo World Union has pledged to work closely with the committee, offering guidance and support to ensure the success of this critical initiative.
