World Peace/Clean-Up Day: Umuahia North Rep, Anderson Akaliro Urges Constituents to Embrace Peace, Support Clean-Up Initiatives

September 20, 2024 -
Today marks the International Day of Peace, and Umuahia North Rep in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Akaliro, has called on his constituents to embrace peace and shun violence. Additionally, with Abia State joining the global community to commemorate World Clean-Up Day, Hon. Akaliro encouraged Abians to support the government's efforts towards environmental cleanliness and public health.

Recall that the General Manager and Chief Executive of the Abia State Protection Agency, Ogbonnia Okereke, on Friday said that the state's participation in World Clean-Up Day is a testament to Governor Alex Otti's visionary leadership and commitment to sustainable environmental practices. Ogbonnia added that this year's theme aligns perfectly with Otti's administration's ongoing efforts to revolutionize waste management in Abia State.

Hon. Akaliro on his part emphasized the importance of a clean and healthy environment, stating, "The importance of a clean and healthy environment cannot be overstated, as it is key to the well-being of our citizens.
He urged residents to participate actively in keeping their environment clean, highlighting every citizen's role in maintaining a healthy Abia.

To achieve this goal, the Abia State Govt has implemented various initiatives, including changing the time for monthly sanitation exercises to 7 a.m. - 10 a.m. every last Saturday of the month. The govt has also engaged private sector participants and tasked local leaders with monitoring and sensitizing residents on the importance of environmental cleanliness.

As Abia State celebrates World Clean-Up Day, Hon. Akaliro's call to action reminds citizens of their crucial role in maintaining a peaceful and healthy environment. By supporting the government's initiatives and embracing peace, Abians can contribute to a better future for their state.
