Nigeria @64: Nigeria is Still a Work in Progress, We Must Continue to Build and Rebuild - Fmr Abia Speaker, Engr Chinedum Orji

October 1, 2024 -
As Nigeria marked its 64th independence anniversary, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Engr. Chinedum Orji, has emphasized the need for continued nation-building efforts.

In his anniversary message, the seasoned lawmaker and political leader acknowledged the nation's challenges but called for unity and collective responsibility in addressing them.

Nigeria is still a work in progress,” Orji stated, reflecting on the country's ongoing struggles.
He stressed that nation-building is a continuous process that requires the input of every citizen. “We must continue to build and rebuild,” he added, urging Nigerians not to lose hope despite the numerous economic, security, and political challenges that have hampered the country's progress stressing that Tinubu's economic plan will yield positive results.

Orji, who has remained a key figure in Abia's political landscape, noted that while the journey to national development has been fraught with obstacles, significant achievements have been recorded in various sectors. However, he pointed out that more effort is needed to ensure that the nation reaches its full potential.

He called on leaders at all levels of government to prioritize the welfare of the people and foster inclusive policies that would bridge the gaps in development. Orji also highlighted the importance of patriotism, national unity, and good governance as critical components for the nation's continued growth.

The former Speaker's message resonated with many Nigerians who, on the occasion of the nation's 64th anniversary, reflect on both the successes and setbacks of the country’s post-independence journey. His call for sustained efforts toward nation-building comes at a time when Nigeria faces pressing issues such as insecurity, inflation, and political tension.

As Nigeria moves forward, Orji's message is a reminder that the journey to nationhood is a marathon, not a sprint, and requires the unwavering commitment of both leaders and citizens alike.
