Teachers' Day: IWU President, Mishak Nnanta Celebrates Teachers, Urges Improved Conditions for Underpaid Educators

On the occasion of World Teachers' Day, His Imperial Majesty Amb. Sir Dr Mishak Nnanta, Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum, President-General of the Igbo World Union (IWU), has paid tribute to educators worldwide, praising their dedication, resilience, and invaluable contribution to society
In a message to mark the annual event, Sir Mishak Nnanta expressed deep admiration for teachers who continue to shape the future despite facing significant challenges, particularly in terms of inadequate compensation.

"Teachers are the backbone of our communities. They inspire, mold, and nurture the next generation, yet they are often paid far less than the immense value they bring to society," Nnanta stated. 
"Their dedication goes beyond the classroom, and their work is fundamental to the progress of our people."

The IWU President, emphasized that teachers deserve better, calling for improved working conditions and more equitable pay for educators, especially those in underserved regions. "It is time we recognize the true worth of teachers and provide them with the respect, resources, and remuneration they deserve," he said.

The Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum  also noted that despite their often underappreciated status, teachers continue to persevere, driven by a passion for their profession and a commitment to their students' success. He lauded their courage in navigating the complexities of modern education, including challenges posed by technology, shifting educational paradigms, and societal changes.

World Teachers' Day, observed every October 5th, serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the crucial role teachers play in building a sustainable future. Sir Nnanta urged governments, institutions, and stakeholders to prioritize investments in education and ensure that teachers are provided with the necessary tools and support to succeed in their noble profession.

As the world reflects on the contributions of teachers, Amb Mishak Nnanta's call serves as a reminder of the need for action to match the rhetoric of appreciation with tangible improvements in the lives of educators. 
"Our teachers deserve better," he concluded. "And we must do everything in our power to ensure they get it."
