Abia LG Polls: IWU President, Amb Nnanta Congratulates Chairman-Elect Enwereuzo, Urges Focus on Excellence and Development

Umuahia, November 4, 2024 — Following the recently concluded local government elections in Abia State, His Imperial Majesty, Amb. Sir Dr. Mishak Nnanta, President-General of the Igbo World Union (IWU), extended his congratulations to Hon. Chinedu Enwereuzo, the newly elected chairman of Umuahia South Local Government Area.

Amb. Nnanta, who hails from Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA, commended Enwereuzo’s victory as an endorsement of his leadership potential.
In his message, the IWU President challenged Enwereuzo to honor the trust placed in him by the electorate by delivering substantial progress and impactful governance.

It is my fervent prayer that you justify the confidence reposed in you, or even surpass our expectations,” Nnanta stated. He called upon Enwereuzo to align his administration with the ongoing initiatives of Governor Alex Otti, aimed at developing a "New Abia."

Nnanta underscored the importance of local governments working in harmony with state efforts to uplift communities and foster growth.

The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) announced that the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) clinched victories in 15 of the state’s 17 local government areas, including Umuahia South, while the Young Progressives Party (YPP) secured wins in Osisioma and Ugwunagbo.

As the local governments prepare for a new administrative cycle, many Abians look forward to seeing if the newly elected leaders will meet the high expectations set by both their communities and influential figures such as Nnanta.
