December 8, 2024 -

In a significant gesture of goodwill, Hon. Anderson Akaliro, the Umuahia North State Representative, has congratulated Hon. Chijioke Chukwu on his recent appointment as a Board Member representing the South East in the North West Development Commission.

The announcement follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s submission of a revised list of nominees for the Commission’s inaugural Governing Board to the Senate for confirmation.

Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, the former Member representing Bende North State Constituency and Minority Leader of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly, was recognized as part of President Tinubu’s commitment to advancing regional development across Nigeria.

The appointment was made public in a statement released on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Where the President underscored his dedication to fostering inclusive growth and urged the nominees to leverage their extensive experience to fulfill the Commission’s mandate effectively.

Hon. Akaliro lauded Chukwu’s appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his contributions to governance and development in Abia State and beyond.

This is a proud moment for the South East, as Hon. Chijioke Chukwu’s expertise will undoubtedly enhance the Commission’s objectives,” Akaliro stated.

Akaliro also commended the efforts of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, for his relentless dedication to advancing the interests of the South East region at the national level.

Hon. Chukwu’s nomination reflects the administration’s broader strategy to include seasoned leaders in driving Nigeria’s regional growth agenda.
The North West Development Commission, a critical federal initiative, is expected to address socio-economic challenges and foster sustainable development in the North West while drawing from the diverse insights of representatives from across the nation.

With the Senate’s anticipated confirmation, the appointment is expected to be a turning point in strengthening interregional collaboration and ensuring the South East has a pivotal role in shaping the Commission’s impact.
