The Abia State House of Assembly Chief Whip, Hon. Emeka Tommy Obioma, has joined dignitaries across the state to honor Nigeria’s fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day commemoration.
He paid tribute to the sacrifices of members of the armed forces who laid down their lives in the defense of peace and unity in Nigeria.
Hon. Obioma, who represents Umuahia South State Constituency, expressed deep gratitude for the bravery and selflessness of the country’s military personnel.
Speaking on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Obioma emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation.
“These heroes paid the ultimate price to ensure that we live in a united and peaceful Nigeria. Their sacrifices are a reminder of the responsibility we have as leaders and citizens to uphold the values they fought to protect,” Hon. Obioma said.
The Chief Whip also commended the efforts of serving military personnel, urging them to remain steadfast in their commitment to national peace and security. He called on the government and citizens to prioritize the welfare of veterans and the families of fallen heroes.
Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an annual event in Nigeria, observed to honor military personnel who died during the country’s wars, peacekeeping missions, and internal security operations.
It also serves as a platform to advocate for the welfare and support of veterans and their families.
Hon. Obioma reiterated his commitment to advocating for policies that support veterans and their dependents, stressing that their welfare must remain a priority for a grateful nation.
