The President of the Igbo World Union (IWU), His Imperial Majesty Amb. Sir Dr Mishak Nnanta, KJW, Gburugburu Ndi Igbo Dum, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), describing it as a crucial step toward addressing the developmental challenges of the Southeast region.
In his statement, Amb. Nnanta lauded the President for heeding the long-standing call for a commission that would drive economic growth, infrastructure development, and regional transformation in the Southeast.
He emphasized that the SEDC has the potential to revitalize industries, create jobs, and enhance security, thus fostering sustainable development in the region.
However, the IWU President urged for strong collaboration between the SEDC and state governments to ensure the effective implementation of the commission’s mandate.
He noted that without a strategic partnership between the commission and state administrations, the full benefits of the initiative may not be realized.
“We commend President Tinubu for this initiative, which will bring a new dawn of progress for the Southeast.
However, to make the SEDC truly impactful, there must be a well-structured collaboration between the commission and state governments in the region.
This partnership will help align policies, mobilize resources, and effectively tackle infrastructural challenges,” Nnanta stated.
He further called on Southeast Governors to engage proactively with the commission, ensuring that their development blueprints align with the objectives of the SEDC for seamless execution of projects.
Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum also urged the National Assembly, private sector stakeholders, and development partners to support the commission’s efforts in bringing lasting development to the region.
He reaffirmed that the Igbo World Union remains committed to advocating for policies that uplift the Igbo people and contribute to national progress.
