2026 poll: Aides give Oyebanji N10m to buy APC form

Political appointees of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Thursday donated N10m to purchase the All Progressives Congress Expression of Interest form for their principal ahead of the party’s governorship primary election.

The appointees — comprising Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Senior Technical Assistants, and Technical Assistants — said their decision was driven by the desire to ensure continuity of the governor’s policies and projects, particularly in infrastructure, human capital development, and economic growth.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti on behalf of the aides during the presentation of the cheque to the governor, the Senior Special Assistant on Strategy, Tope Olanipekun, said: “Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated exceptional leadership, transparency, and dedication to the welfare of Ekiti people.

This justifies our decision to rally support for his second term in office. Our contribution is voluntary and reflects the confidence the aides have in the governor’s ability to sustain good governance.”

Olanipekun noted that the APC had fixed the cost of the Expression of Interest form at N10m and the Nomination form at N40 million, with sales set to commence on August 26.

He explained that the aides opted to cover the cost of the Expression of Interest form “to show the world that all the endorsements by over 300 groups in the state are a true reflection of the love the people have for the governor.”

He added that the aides would continue to mobilise stakeholders across the state to consolidate the governor’s achievements and ensure he secures an overwhelming victory at next year’s governorship election.
