The Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma, has officially welcomed Hon. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro to the Labour Party following his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Obioma described Akaliro’s decision as a people-centered step that demonstrates his commitment to genuine service.
He emphasized that the Labour Party has become the rallying point for leaders who are determined to put the interest of their constituents above partisan crisis.
“On behalf of the Labour Party family in Abia State, I heartily welcome my brother and colleague, Hon. Anderson Akaliro, into our fold,” Obioma said.
“His defection is not only timely but also a reflection of the reality that Labour Party represents hope, unity, and progress for our people.”
The Chief Whip noted that Akaliro’s move will strengthen the synergy within the Abia State House of Assembly and boost collaboration with Gov Alex Otti’s administration.
“Together, we will continue to work with His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, to deliver development and prosperity to every part of Abia,” Obioma stated.
Obioma also used the opportunity to call on other leaders in the state to prioritize unity and development over partisan strife.
“Abia needs leaders who can come together to rebuild trust and deliver results. Labour Party is open to all who share this vision. We are not just a party in power; we are a movement for transformation,” he concluded.
