Osun deputy gov, ex-PDP scribe face anti-party allegations

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ife Federal Constituency has passed a vote of no confidence in Osun State Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, and a former National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo, accusing them of engaging in anti-party activities.

The resolution was contained in a communiqué issued after the constituency’s meeting on Monday, a copy of which was obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday.

Also sanctioned in the communiqué was the Ife East Local Government PDP chairman, Olasunkanmi Makinde.

Explaining the decision, the party alleged that the three leaders had continued to fraternise with the member representing Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Bimbo Ajilesoro, who recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress.

The leadership is equally disappointed by the continued fraternity of Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, and the Ife East PDP Chairman, Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco), with Bimbo Ajilesoro, who has since defected from the party.

“In Ife East, the party is enraged that loyal members, such as Lawrence Omotosho, Adeyinka Adeniji (a.k.a Gbogbo Ebe), Yakubu Olawusi and others, who openly disassociated themselves from Ajilesoro following his defection, are being victimised by being relieved of their government and party positions. More importantly, party meetings in Ife East Local Government have been put on hold by these leaders, thereby weakening party activities in the area.”

The communiqué, signed by Adesoji Adegoke, Ropo Oyewole, and 37 others, added: “In view of the above, which amounts to anti-party activities and poses grave danger to the success of the party in Ifeland, the meeting hereby resolves as follows: A vote of no confidence is passed on Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, and the PDP Chairman of Ife East Local Government, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco).”

Reacting to the development, Oladipo dismissed the allegations, describing them as baseless.

“We are all Ifes. How will an Ife man enter your premises, especially if it is a public place where they sell food, and you chase the person away? They are just joking. They are a set of jesters,” he said.
