Abia State |October 14, 2025 —
The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has commended Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for the approval of the 13.1-kilometre Ariam Ring Road project in Ikwuano Local Government Area, describing it as a monumental step toward equitable development and infrastructural transformation in the state.
Hon. Aguocha also lauded the governor for the earlier approval of the 26-kilometre Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road, noting that both projects would significantly enhance transportation, economic activities, and agricultural productivity in the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Aguocha expressed deep appreciation to Gov Otti for his responsiveness to the needs of the people, emphasizing that the Ariam Ring Road had been a long-standing demand of the Ikwuano people.
“Gov Alex Otti is a proven leader with a listening and attentive heart who has heard me several times and has honoured my federal constituency immensely,” Aguocha said.
“The approval of construction on Ariam Ring Road and the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road demonstrate his commitment to balanced development and his genuine passion for improving the lives of Abians, especially rural dwellers.”
The lawmaker further stated that the gesture reflects a government that prioritizes the welfare of its citizens over political considerations.
“What we are witnessing today is the reward of purposeful governance built on consultation, fairness, and vision. Ikwuano people are grateful because this road will open up communities, ease the movement of goods and farm produce, and connect our local economy to the rest of the state and beyond,” he added.
Recall that the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, had earlier disclosed the approval while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Umuahia.
According to the commissioner, the 13.1-kilometre Ariam Ring Road project forms part of the Otti administration’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and enhance connectivity across Abia State. He further noted that several other road and infrastructure projects were approved during the meeting, reflecting the government’s drive to deliver sustainable and inclusive development to all parts of the state.
Hon. Aguocha concluded by assuring the governor of his continued collaboration and support in ensuring that federal and state efforts are harmonized for the progress of Abia.
“I remain committed to working with the state government to ensure that projects like this are successfully executed and maintained. With our efforts combined, we will transform Abia into a model of excellence in governance and development,” Aguocha affirmed.
