Democracy Thrives on Debate and Dissent, Not Division and Witch-Hunts, Sir Mishak Nnanta tells Nigerians

The President-General IWU, His Imperial Majesty Amb. Sir Mishak Nnanta (KJW), Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum, has spoken out to dispel misconceptions about the role of opposition in a democratic society.

In his statement addressing current political tensions, Gburugburu emphasized that opposition movements within the country should not be viewed as witch-hunts but rather as essential components of a healthy democracy.

Sir Mishak Nnanta, underscored the importance of constructive criticism and accountability in governance.

"Opposition is not a witch-hunt," he declared. "It is a vital part of our democratic process. The role of the opposition is to ensure that the government remains transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the people."

Sir Nnanta  encouraged opposition groups to engage in constructive criticism, noting that it is a vital aspect of democracy. He urged them to focus on issues rather than personalities, and to work towards building a better future for all.

The monarch's statement comes at a time when some have accused opposition groups of being overly critical and divisive. However, Sir Mishak Nnanta's words have been hailed as a timely reminder of the importance of constructive opposition in a democratic system.

He called for an end to such practices, advocating instead for a political environment where differing opinions are respected and valued.

"Democracy thrives on debate and dissent," he continued.
"We must foster a culture of respect and dialogue, where all citizens feel safe to express their views without fear of retribution."

Amb. Mishak Nnanta's remarks have been widely praised by civil society groups and political analysts, who view his stance as a call for a more inclusive and open political discourse. Many hope that his plea will encourage the opposition to adopt a more tolerant approach to opposition, ensuring a more balanced and democratic governance.

"His Imperial Majesty's statement is a welcome call for civility and responsibility in our political discourse," said a political analyst. "It's a reminder that opposition can be a force for good, rather than a tool for division."

As the nation moves forward, Sir Mishak Nnanta's message serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding democratic principles and the role of opposition in fostering a just and equitable society.
