Hon Anderson Akaliro Boosts Grassroots Engagement, Unveils Empowerment Initiatives in Umuahia North

Umuahia, April 14, 2025 —

In a continued effort to deepen grassroots engagement and build a cohesive political structure within Umuahia North State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Akaliro Anderson Kelechi on Monday convened a strategic meeting with key stakeholders from Umuhu Ward and neighboring communities.

The meeting, held at the Umuhu Civic Centre, was aimed at fostering unity, strengthening political organization, and empowering the grassroots.

During the interactive session, Hon. Akaliro emphasized the need for transparency, collaboration, and active participation of constituents in the political process. He announced a new initiative to appoint polling unit coordinators across the ward, a move he described as vital to bridging the communication gap between the electorate and their representative.

"We cannot build a strong and inclusive political structure without the grassroots," Hon. Akaliro said.
"By appointing polling unit coordinators, we are decentralizing engagement and ensuring that every community has a voice and a point of contact in governance."

The lawmaker also unveiled plans to establish a cooperative society within the ward, designed to promote economic empowerment through collective efforts in fundraising and business development.
He explained that the cooperative would offer a sustainable platform for constituents to access financial support and grow their livelihoods.

"Economic empowerment is key to true representation," he stated.
"This cooperative will not just be about money, it will be a platform for training, partnership, and self-reliance for our people."

In addition to discussing political structure and empowerment strategies, Hon. Akaliro took time to educate attendees about the workings of the current state administration.
He assured them that his office would continue to act as a conduit for information and development initiatives from the government to the grassroots.

"It's important that you are not just informed, but also aligned with the direction of this government," he said.
"We are in a season of rebuilding and progress, and no community should be left behind."

As a gesture of appreciation for the turnout and consistent support from the people of Umuhu Ward, Hon. Akaliro offered tokens to attendees, symbolizing his gratitude and reaffirming his commitment to inclusive leadership.

"This token is not just a gift, it's a reminder that I value your support and will always stand by you," he added.

The stakeholders' meeting ended on a high note, with community leaders and youth representatives expressing support for Hon. Akaliro's initiatives and pledging to work collaboratively towards the continued progress of Umuahia North Constituency.
