NDLEA arrests five alleged drug barons in Adamawa

NDLEA OFFICERS

Luck ran out of some drugs barons who are operating in Adamawa State, as a team of heavily armed personnel of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency at about 4:18 pm on Monday embarked on a sting operation at their operational base and arrested over five suspects.

However, the NDLEA informant (popularly referred to as spy) who had been on ground at the scene much earlier coordinating the activities of the drug kingpins saved the day when he codedly informed the NDLEA personnel that I wasn’t the target and immediately directed him to the tent where the suspects were sitting.

In a twinkle of an eye, a Toyota Hilux full of officers stormed the tent, raided the suspects, and carted the suspected substances believed to be hard drugs found in their possession in different black polythene bags.

Our correspondent further reports that the arrest took place at a venue, which is a social joint called forest and is located opposite Distance Learning Centre Modibbo Adama University, Yola along the Yola-Mubi road.

When Arewa contacted the state Commander of the NDLEA, Femi Samson, concerning the raid, he explained that it was part of the agency’s strategies to free society from drugs and its abuse.

He stated, “I am happy that the operation took place in your presence. You are the person that is now telling the story,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Operation pleaded with Arewa to delete the pictures already taken during the sting exercise, saying, “it is for the safety of the officers involved in the operation.”

He insisted, “We don’t allow pictures of our operations that show the faces of our men to appear in public, so please delete it for our safety,” he begged.
