As the world marks this year’s Father’s Day, the President of the Igbo World Union (IWU), Ambassador Sir Mishak Nnanta, KJW, has sent a heartfelt message of appreciation to fathers across Nigeria and the globe, describing them as “the silent heroes and unshakable pillars of every society.”
In his goodwill message issued on Sunday morning, Amb. Nnanta praised fathers for their strength, resilience, and sacrificial leadership within the home and beyond. He noted that while their efforts often go unnoticed, their impact is eternal.
“Fathers are the builders of character, carriers of vision, and defenders of the family structure. Their daily sacrifices; waking early to work, praying for their children, and mentoring the next generation, are the reasons many homes are standing strong today,” he stated.
He emphasized that in Igbo tradition, a father is not just a figurehead but a symbol of wisdom and honor. He called on society to return to the values of respect, responsibility, and legacy, which true fatherhood represents.
Amb. Nnanta also charged fathers to remain focused and prayerful, especially in these trying times, encouraging them not to relent in teaching discipline, culture, and values to the younger generation.
He concluded by praying for God’s continued grace, good health, and divine wisdom upon all fathers, saying, “May our fathers never lack, and may their children grow to become answers to their prayers.”
Happy Father’s Day to all great men.
