As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues its nationwide online voter registration exercise, the Member representing Umuahia North Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, has called on all eligible constituents to take full advantage of the process.
Hon. Akaliro stressed that the ongoing registration remains a golden opportunity for Nigerians, particularly the people of Umuahia North, to secure their right to vote in the 2027 general elections. He noted that voter registration, replacement of lost voter cards, and transfer of polling units are vital steps in strengthening democracy.
In his words, Hon. Akaliro said: “This is not just an exercise, it is an opportunity to secure your voice in the future of our nation. If you have not registered before, if you lost your voter’s card, or if you wish to transfer your voting location to any of our LGA, now is the time to act. Do not wait until it is too late.”
The lawmaker reminded his constituents that democracy thrives when citizens actively participate in the electoral process.
He emphasized that voting remains one of the most powerful tools in the hands of the people to influence governance and leadership, and getting registered is a step towards achieving that.
He further urged community leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations in Umuahia North to mobilize eligible residents to register, saying that broad participation will strengthen representation at all levels of government.
Concluding, Hon. Akaliro reaffirmed his commitment to championing policies and initiatives that uphold fairness, justice, and development in Umuahia North.
