Igbo World Union Set to Host Historic Igbo Unity Festival, Appreciates King Muja'Dib Jamel El'Sori-Oser, wife, Seeks Royal Collaboration

March 21, 2025 -

In a historic move to foster unity, cultural heritage, and economic development, the Igbo World Union (IWU) has announced the launch of an Annual Igbo Unity Festival aimed at bringing together Igbo sons and daughters from all over the world.

The initiative, championed by His Imperial Majesty Amb. Sir Mishak Nnanta, KJW, Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum, is set to become a landmark event promoting tourism, trade, and Igbo Brotherhood. According to the leadership of IWU, the festival is expected to be an annual gathering where Igbo communities from Nigeria and the diaspora will converge to celebrate their shared identity and discuss strategies for collective progress.

On this note, Amb. Sir Mishak Nnanta, KJW, Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum, extended his heartfelt appreciation to His Royal Majesty, King Muja'Dib Jamel El'Sori-Oser, and his esteemed wife for their unwavering commitment to cultural preservation and inter-ethnic unity. Recognizing the King’s influence and leadership, he expressed gratitude for the royal family's efforts in fostering peace and cooperation among diverse communities.

"Your Majesty, your dedication to preserving traditions while embracing progress is truly commendable. Your kingdom stands as a beacon of cultural resilience, and we deeply admire your commitment to heritage and unity," Nnanta stated.

Furthermore, Amb. Nnanta emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Igbo World Union and King Muja'Dib Jamel El'Sori-Oser’s kingdom to ensure the grand success of the Igbo Unity Festival.

He highlighted that such a partnership would not only promote cultural exchange but also open avenues for economic and diplomatic ties.

"We believe that by working together, we can create a festival that transcends borders, bringing people together in the spirit of unity, commerce, and shared traditions. Your Majesty’s support will be invaluable in making this vision a reality," he affirmed.

The Igbo Unity Festival will serve as a platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people through music, dance, art, fashion, cuisine, and historical exhibitions.

A major highlight of the festival will be the grand unveiling of Ikiri Agu Palace, the official residence of H.I.M. Amb. Mishak Nnanta, as one of Africa's premier tourist centers. Designed to reflect the rich history and traditions of the Igbo people, the palace will serve as a symbol of cultural pride and heritage preservation. The unveiling is expected to attract dignitaries, cultural enthusiasts, and tourists from all walks of life, further cementing Igboland’s position as a global hub for African heritage tourism.

Nnanta expressed optimism that Ikiri Agu Palace would stand as a legacy for future generations, inspiring deeper appreciation and investment in Africa’s cultural wealth.

Speaking on the initiative, Sir Mishak Nnanta emphasized the importance of unity among Ndigbo.

"This festival is a call to all Igbo people, whether at home or abroad, to come together as one.

"We have a rich cultural heritage, a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep-rooted sense of brotherhood.

"This festival will be a platform to showcase our greatness, strengthen our bonds, and contribute to the economic growth of our homeland through tourism and trade," he stated.

Beyond cultural celebrations, the festival is expected to have a significant economic impact. The event will feature an Igbo Trade and Investment Expo, where local entrepreneurs and international investors can explore business opportunities in the region.

The tourism sector is also expected to benefit greatly from the festival, as thousands of visitors, including foreign tourists and Igbo descendants from across the globe, will have the opportunity to explore historical sites, local markets, and traditional festivals across Igboland.

To ensure the successful execution of this grand cultural event, the Igbo World Union is calling on corporate sponsors, government agencies, business moguls, and philanthropic organizations to support the festival.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for companies and individuals looking to associate their brands with Igbo unity, tourism, and economic development.

"We need the support of well-meaning individuals and organizations who believe in the Igbo cause. This is more than a festival, it is a legacy project for the future of our people," Nnanta added.

The Igbo World Union will extend invitations to notable Igbo personalities, traditional rulers, business tycoons, and political leaders to be part of the event. Various Igbo organizations from Europe, the United States, Asia, and other parts of Africa are also expected to participate, making it a truly global festival.

Amb. Mishak Nnanta has called on all Igbo people worldwide to embrace the festival and participate actively.

"This is not just an event; it is a movement for the advancement of the Igbo race. Every Igbo son and daughter must take pride in their heritage and contribute to this noble cause.

Together, we can build a stronger, more united, and prosperous Igbo nation."

With this groundbreaking initiative, the Igbo World Union is set to redefine cultural tourism, strengthen Igbo identity, and create new economic opportunities that will benefit generations to come.
